Groove Den is a collaborative meeting of minds and the brainchild of Bristol music heavy weights James Morton and Alex Hutchings. Influenced by a wide range of musical styles including jazz, funk, hip-hop, soul and rock, the common thread is groove and feel.

James is one of the most exciting saxophonists of his generation and has performed and recorded with some of the most prolific artists in music

including Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley and The New JB’s, George Clinton, The Herbaliser and the NPG Horns (Prince) to name a few. He also has released 2 albums “The Kid” and “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout That” to critical acclaim.

Alex has been dazzling audiences internationally with his distinctive, heart felt playing and technical brilliance for over a decade, most recently completing a 150 date world tour with Steven Wilson (formerly Porcupine Tree) culminating in 3 nights at The Royal Albert hall released on DVD. Alex has also composed music for the BBC and is a You Tube sensation with almost 100.00 followers on his channel.

Other members of the group include power house drummer Francesco Mendolia (Incognito) and Swedish funk and soul meastro Anders Olinder (Glen Hughes and Pee Wee Ellis) on Hammond Organ.

Expect lyrical, funky, soulful saxophones, blistering guitar solos and deep heavy grooves which will take you on a journey from New Orleans to the urban streets of Bristol. Welcome to the Groove Den.

Support on the night comes from classically trained pianist-composer, Elena F. Elena loves exploring the neo-classical field, and with her musical language has updated classical music for contemporary life.

Piano Day 2023 with Elena Fedorenko

(BST, UTC+01) (BST, UTC+01)

The Land of Green Ginger, 8 Market Square , St.Peter Port

Piano Day 2023 in Guernsey with Elena Fedorenko and her friends: Eloise Fabbri, Nicole Wyatt and Sam Cole. The evening will consist of a selection of contemporary classical music for piano solo, including some well-known works alongside some of Elena's own compositions.

“Why does the world need a Piano Day? For many reasons. But mostly, because it doesn’t hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener.” – Nils Frahm

Piano Day, an annual worldwide event founded by a group of like-minded people, takes place on the 88th day of the year – in 2023, it’s the 29th March – because of the number of keys on the instrument being celebrated.
